Coolest respects your privacy. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using coolest.design.

1. Who we are

Coolest is a curated collection of the coolest design on the internet. It is run by Zsolt Kálmán in Budapest, Hungary, who is responsible for the information described here.

2. Information we collect

You can browse Coolest without giving us anything. When you choose to use a feature, we may collect the information you provide, such as your email address, your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google, the designs you save, the details and files you include in a submission, and anything you write to us.

We also collect some basic technical information automatically, such as your IP address, browser and device type, approximate location, the pages you visit and general usage data. We use it to keep the site running, secure and improving.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

• Run your account and keep your saved designs in sync.
• Review, publish and credit the work you submit.
• Send you This week’s Coolest, if you subscribed.
• Reply to your messages and requests.
• Prevent spam, abuse and misuse of the site.
• Understand how Coolest is used and make it better.
• Meet our legal obligations.

We never sell your information, and we never use it for advertising.

4. Public information

If work you submit is published, some details become public, such as the credit name, title, images and links that go with it. Please don’t submit anything you don’t want shown publicly.

5. The newsletter

If you subscribe to This week’s Coolest, we use your email address to send it to you, along with a record of when and how you subscribed. Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and you can leave at any time.

6. Cookies and local storage

Coolest uses your browser’s storage only for things the site needs to work, like keeping you logged in and remembering your saves and preferences. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.

To understand how the site is used, we count visits without cookies, using Cloudflare Web Analytics and our own measurement. They record things like the pages viewed, how long they were open and what was clicked. Visits are grouped by a code that changes every day, so they can’t be linked to you or from one day to the next, and nothing is stored on your device for this.

7. Services we use

We rely on a few trusted providers to host the site, handle sign-in, send emails, store files and keep things secure, such as Cloudflare, Google Firebase and Amazon Web Services. They process information only to provide their services to us.

8. How long we keep information

We keep information only as long as we need it for the purposes above. Uploaded files are deleted automatically after 30 days, and published work stays up until you ask us to remove it. You can ask us to delete your account or your information at any time.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR, you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your information, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. Contact us at hello@coolest.design. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorized access. No website or online service is completely secure, but we take keeping your information safe seriously.

11. International processing

Some of the services we use may process information outside your country. Where required, appropriate safeguards are in place for these transfers.

12. Children

Coolest is not intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we’ll remove it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll let you know on the site or by email.
